Also in the household was a hired man, Perley Stone, 18, a farm laborer and native of New Hampshire.²
Clarence Jesse Colby registered for the draft on September 12, 1918. His home was listed as Hooksett R.F.D., Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Next of kin was shown as Julia Ann Colby. He was a farmer of medium height, medium build, brown eyes and brown hair.³
The census of 1920 shows: Clarence J. Colby, a farmer; and Julia A. Colby listed with Edna M. Colby
living at Robinson Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
Also in the family was his father-in-law, William Hend, a 69-year-old widower, native of New Hampshire.⁴
The census of 1930 shows: Clarence J. Colby, a farmer; and Annie H. Colby listed with Edna M. Colby
living at South Bow Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
Also in the household was a boarder, Ralph McNamara, 35, a saw mill worker from Vermont.⁵
