Washington Hovey was born on August 26, 1777 in Brighton, Massachusetts. N. B. He is not the Washington Hovey of Newburyport, who was also born in 1777, but to father Luke Hovey.²
He was the son of Major Thomas Hovey and Elizabeth Brown.¹
Washington Hovey is supposed to have perished in the conflagration that destroyed the Richmond theatre in Richmond, Richmond County, Virginia, on December 26, 1811 at age 34.¹
