John Lothrop1

b. December 7, 1645, d. August 25, 1688
  • John Lothrop was baptized on December 7, 1645 in Boston, Massachusetts, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Scudder) Lothrop.2
  • John married Ruth Royce, daughter of Robert Royce and Mary (?), on December 15, 1669 in New London, Connecticut, This was a double marriage, with Elizabeth Lothrop and John Lothrop marrying Isaac Royce and Ruth Royce. It was performed by Daniel Wetherel, Commissioner, and probably in the Court Room, as it was recorded among the other proceedings of the Court. Marriages were conducted in that way; the couple entering the room with their friends, and arranging themselves in front of the bench.1
  • John died on August 25, 1688 in Wallingford, Connecticut, at age 42.3

  • Mary married John Stearns, son of Isaac Stearns and Mary Barker, in December, 1656 in Barnstable, Massachusetts.1
  • Mary married on May 6, 1669 as her second husband Capt. William French, and in 1684 became the third wife of Isaac Mixer, and long outlived him.1
