Samuel Silver1
b. February 16, 1662
- Samuel Silver was born on February 16, 1662 in Newbury, Massachusetts, son of Thomas and Katherine Silver.2
- He married Mary, probably in Rowley, Massachusetts. She died 4 Jan 1700. They had children, all born in Rowley: Mary, 1692; Elizabeth, 1694; Mercy, 1696 (died 1696); Ruth, 1697/98; child (died 1699); Samuel, 1700 (d. young); and Sarah, 1700.3
- Samuel married Sarah Colby, daughter of Isaac Colby and Martha Parrat, on July 8, 1701, as his second wife.4
- In 1708, Samuel Silver was a "snow-shoe man" at Amesbury, Massachusetts, in defense against French and Indian attack. He was a soldier in the expedition to Canada in 1690 and, as such, in 1739 was granted a share in the township of Bakerstown, along with 59 other men from Amesbury, Haverhill, Newbury and Rowley. The township was not settled under this grant, but was in 1749, probably after Samuel had died. Originally called Stevenstown, it later became Salisbury, N.H.5
