  • Rev. John Smith was born on March 7, 1749 in Stonington or Sterling, Connecticut.1
  • He was graduated in 1770 from Princeton College, and became a clergyman. Rev. John Smith was for many years pastor of the Congregational church in Dighton, Mass., where a large family of both sons and daughters were born. In 1802 he removed to Canandaigua, N. Y., from there to the state of Pennsylvania, thence to Kentucky.1
  • John married Alice Andrews, daughter of Elkanah Andrews and Alice Beal, on July 8, 1773 in Dighton, Massachusetts.2
