He was the son of Harrison Colby and Judith E. Whitcher.¹
As of from 1865 to 1869, Anthon W. Colby lived at Vineland, Cumberland County, New Jersey.
Fall of 1869, Anthon W. Colby moved to at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, to care for his aged parents, who had sold the Potter Place farm in Andover and returned to their native town to end their days.
The census of 1870 shows:
Anthon W. Colby, 19, working in a freight house; in the household of
Aaron Colby, 78, farmer, with $1700 real estate and $1325 personal estate; and
Edith Colby, 74, keeping house;
living at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.³
From 1870 to 1878, Anthon W. Colby carried the mail from Concord to Dunbarton and Bow. He was the first postmaster at Bow Mills.^4,5
Anthony married Jessie L. Brown on August 28, 1873 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
The census of 1880 shows: Anthen W. Colby, Anthen was a mail carrier; and Jessie L. Colby listed with Eva Mary Colby
living at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.⁶
In 1888, Anthon W. Colby began employment at the State House in Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.⁴
Anthon died on March 26, 1897 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, at age 46.
He and Jessie L. Brown were buried in Evans (North) Cemetery on White Rock Hill Rd, by Turee Pond, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.

In Dunbarton, NH perished in the great pond, (so called) Mr. Archelaus Colby, aged about 60. He was found seven days afterwards, standing nearly erect with his head and shoulders frozen into the ice."³

Arthur married Nellie E. Dow on November 3, 1886 in New Hampshire.
The census of 1930 shows: Arthur E. Colby, 64, a dairy farmer; and Nellie E. Colby, wife, 64;
living at South Street, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
Also living there was Arthur's brother-in-law, Warren P. Dow, 70.⁴
Arthur died in 1953 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
He was buried in Alexander Cemetery on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, along with Hiram Colby Jr. and Augusta A. Wheeler.
