Nathaniel Conant1

b. June 30, 1766, d. May 18, 1842
  • Nathaniel Conant was born on June 30, 1766, probably in Beverly, Massachusetts, and moved to Alfred, Maine, with his parents. He bought a lot near his father's mill, of Benjamin Tripe, and built a house, which is still [1887] standing. After his death it was occupied by his son-in-law, B. J. Herrick, and is now (1886) owned by C. H. Roberts. He was a well known and esteemed citizen of Alfred, where for many years he was engaged in mercantile pursuits. He held various town offices, and was for many years a Justice of the Peace. In 1806 and 1807 he represented the town in the Massachusetts legislature, He was the second representative from Alfred, John Holmes, afterwards U. S. Senator, being the first.2
  • He was the son of Nathanell Conant and Abigail Dodge.1
  • Nathaniel married Hephzibah Dodge.3
  • Nathaniel died on May 18, 1842 at age 75.3
