  • Ezekiel Hale was born on April 3, 1763 in Newbury (West Parish), Massachusetts.2
  • He was the son of Ezekiel Hale and Abigail Sargent.1
  • Ezekiel Hale moved to Dracut, Massachusetts, in 1769 with Ezekiel Hale.3
  • Ezekiel married (?) Coburn.1
  • As of 1798, Ezekiel Hale lived at Haverhill, Massachusetts, at which time his name appears in the list of householders in that town, with a dwelling-house valued at $400. (Chase's Haverhill, 468.)2
  • In 1804 he established there a factory for the manufacture of cotton yarn, among the earliest in the country. (Chase, 474.) He had likewise, as early as 1814, a grist-mill and a saw-mill there on the "Little River," early in the histoIy of the town known as "Thomas Hales River," and in 1826 constructed under a grant from the General Court, a canal to float logs on the Little River between his mill pond and the Merrimack. (Chase, 511.) In 1804 the town boasted the possession of two "horse-carts," one of which was Mr. Hale's, the other Mr. Daniel Appleton's. (Chase, 541.)4
