Chandler married Rachel S. Cameron on September 28, 1897.
Between 1901 and 1905, Chandler Hale was secretary of American Legation and Embassy, Vienna, Austria.¹
In 1907, Chandler Hale was secretary of the American delegation to the second peace conference in The Hague, Netherlands.¹
From 1909 to 1913, Chandler Hale was third assistant U. S. Secretary of State.¹
