Lavinia died on September 22, 1860 in North Anson, Somerset County, Maine, at age 50.²

Mark married, as his fourth wife, Miss Brown of Hamilton, a sister of Mrs. Francis Dane of Boston.³
He was discovered floating in the river in 1879 in Rowley, Massachusetts.³
