William Rawson

- William Rawson was born on May 21, 1651 in Boston, Massachusetts, son of Edward and Rachel (Perne) Rawson.
- William married Ann Glover, daughter of Nathaniel Glover and Mary Smith, on July 11, 1673.1
- William Rawson was a member of at First Church, Boston, Massachusetts, on February 27, 1676.
- William Rawson was a merchant and importer.
- In 1689, William Rawson sold his property back to his wife's uncle, John Glover from whom he had purchased it. He afterwards purchased a tract of land from the heirs of his great uncle, the Rev. John Wilson. The land was situated in Braintree, Mass. The estate was adjacant to that of the Hon. Josiah Quincy. Today in Quincy, Mass. there is a street named Rawson Rd. running parallel with Hancock St. This is the location on Williams old homestead. It was passed down to succeeding generations, passing to his son Jonathan in 1760, thence to Jonathan Jr. in 1782, and Samuel in 1819. William Rawson owned and operated the first trading post in Boston. According to the 'Glover Genealogy Memorial', William was a very noble, religious and a wealthy man.
