  • Amos Hadley was born on May 14, 1825 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
  • He was the son of Willaby C. Hadley and Massey Wheeler.
  • Amos Hadley was graduated in 1844 from Dartmouth College.
  • In 1847, Amos Hadley was admitted to the bar, but never practiced.
  • In 1850 and 1851, Amos Hadley was elected representative from Bow.
  • Amos married Laura Matilda Prescott on August 27, 1851.
  • In 1853, Amos Hadley moved to at Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, and in connection with Cyrus Barton, published for several years the "State Capital Reporter," a Republican newspaper.
  • In January, 1857, Amos Hadley entered into company with George G. Fogg, Esq., for the publication of the "Independent Democrat," also a Republican newspaper.
  • Amos married Adriana Shannon in October, 1857 in Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.
  • In 1867, Amos Hadley dissolved his connection with the paper, and was appointed to the responsible office of superintendent of public instruction of New Hampshire.
