John Perley Conant1

  • John Perley Conant was born on July 13, 1813.2
  • He was the son of Capt. Daniel Conant and Lucy Perley.1
  • He married Louisa A. Nelson on April 13, 1843 and lived in Georgetown, Massachusetts.2
  • As of July 13, 1903, John Perley Conant lived at Central street, South Georgetown, Massachusetts, where "he observed his ninetieth birthday... Quite a large number of the neighbors called during the day for a pleasant chat with their venerable friend. Mr. Conant was named for John Perley, the donor of the Perley Free School of that town. The old gentleman is in fairly good health, but his eyesight is failing him, but he retains the rest of his faculties to a marked degree." He was still living on 15 Sep 1904.2

Joseph Conant1

  • Joseph Conant was born on November 6, 1811.1
  • Joseph Conant was a farmer and shoemaker at Linebrook Parish, Ipswich, Massachusetts.1
  • Joseph married Lucy Hobbs Foster, daughter of Philemon Foster and Nabby Hobbs of Topsfield, on October 18, 1832, and had no children.1
  • Joseph died on October 20, 1885 at age 73. The local newspaper says of him: "He was a quiet man, a good, obliging, social and esteemed neighbor. In his manhood's prime he was identified with parish affairs, serving it in various capacities. He was one of the proprietors of the church edifice, and assisted very materially in its erection. His active life earned him a comfortable property, and his sobriety and kindness a good name."1
