• William Cundiff was born on March 17, 1896 in Roanoke, Roanoke County, Virginia, son of Matthew and Annie (Musselman) Cundiff, according to his marriage certificate.
• William married Jessie Myrtle Morris, daughter of Samuel Morris and Mary Rebekah Rawson, on May 1, 1916 in Roanoke (Brown's Creek District), Virginia. They were married by Rev. U.G. Foote, according to their marriage certificate.
• William Cundiff and Jessie Myrtle Morris were divorced between 1918 and 1926 The following is notated in a GEDCOM file named STEWA.GED:

• Major Garwood Hinman Cunningham was a military officer, and Major of the 13th Regiment of Infantry. Representative to the General Assembly from Woodbury, three sessions; twice in 1799, and once in 1801 ; also a selectman, &c, and sheriff's deputy many years in Litchfield County.¹
• Major Garwood Hinman Cunningham moved to Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, where he remained several years as keeper of the principal hotel there. In the war of 1812, he was connected with the American army, near Canada, where he was taken sick and died.³
