Gilbert Conant was born on August 1, 1804.²
He was the son of William Conant Jr., Esq. and Ruth Foster.¹
Gilbert Conant was a schoolteacher, surveyor, farmer, timber merchant. He wrote for newspapers upon topics of agriculture and birds, and published a work on the birds of the area.²
Gilbert married Lavinia Foster on October 26, 1831.²
Gilbert died on March 21, 1885 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, at age 80.²
