  • He was the son of Chester Alan Arthur and Ellen "Nell" Lewis Herndon.
  • Chester Alan Arthur Jr. was graduated in 1885 from Princeton University and went on to Columbia Law School, but rather than follow in his father's footsteps, he chose instead to become a gentleman of leisure. President Arthur on his deathbed warned his son not to go into politics. Alan Arthur traveled extensively, maintained a fine stable of horses, and relied on polo for exercise.
  • Chester married Myra Townsend in 1900/1.
  • Chester Alan Arthur Jr. and Myra Townsend were divorced in 1927.
  • Chester Alan Arthur Jr. moved to Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado.

  • Mariana Arvayo married Murray Goodman, son of J. Irwin Goodman and Mary Levine (born Mary Zlochefsky), on August 1, 1959 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico,

    Murray adopted Mariana's son, Jesus, born on December 28.1956, who married Beatriz Teran on September 5, 1975 and had 4 sons, Ramon Goodman, born on 7/4/76, Alex Goodman in August 1980, Tony Goodman in September 1982, and Jesus Goodman Jr. on 7/6/78. Ramon had children, Cessiah and Aaron. Jesus, Jr had children, Jacob and Sarah. Jacob was named for Murray's great grandfather on his father's side. Alex had children, Eduardo, Bryan, and Michelle. Tony married in May, 2004.2
  • Mariana died on June 19, 2009 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, at age 69.1
