Tobias Lord1

  • Tobias Lord was born perhaps 1758 in Wells, Maine, son of Capt. Tobias Lord.1
  • Tobias married to Mehitable Scammon, as his first wife.1
  • He was a lieutenant in the Revolutionary army, under Capt. Joseph Littlefield, at Burgoyne's surrender, 1777. In 1778 he went to Kennebunk, Me., built a store and engaged in trade and ship building. He moved to Alfred in 1803, and returned to Kennebunk in 1808.1
  • Tobias married Hepzibah Conant, daughter of Nathanell Conant and Abigail Dodge, as his second wife.1
  • Tobias died on January 16, 1808, suddenly, at the house of his daughter, Mrs. Francis Watts.1

  • Elizabeth Lothrop was born in March, 1648 in New London, Connecticut, Samuel and Elizabeth (Scudder) Lathrop.1
  • Elizabeth married Isaac Royce, son of Robert Royce and Mary (?), on December 15, 1669 in New London, Connecticut. This was a double marriage, with Elizabeth Lothrop and John Lothrop marrying Isaac Royce and Ruth Royce. It was performed by Daniel Wetherel, Commissioner, and probably in the Court Room, as it was recorded among the other proceedings of the Court. Marriages were conducted in that way; the couple entering the room with their friends, and arranging themselves in front of the bench.1
