John Potter of Ipswich1
b. perhaps 1799, d. August 30, 1850
- John Potter of Ipswich was born perhaps 1799.
- He married Harriet Nourse, daughter of Daniel Nourse and Hannah Jewett of Rowley, on March 7, 1822, and resided at "The City" in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Their well was said to be on the boundary line between the two towns, and he often asked thirsty travelers, if they would have Ipswich or Topsfield water.1
- Mr. Potter's second wife was Mehitable Wilds, and had Nathaniel Potter, 1835; John, 1841, or '42; Mary Jane, 1847 and two infant daughters.2
- On August 30, 1850, John and his son (by his second wife) Albert E. were drowned in Ipswich Hundreds.1
