In his will, proved 18 July 1558, John Foote mentioned the church at Royston, wife Helen, servant Maud Smythe, an unnamed brother, his wife's brother Richard Warren the Younger, his wife's uncle John Jenawaye, sons John and Robert, and daughters Aves [Alice] and Elizabeth; the witnesses were John Jenawaye, Nicholas, and Richard Warren of Bassingbourn, co.. Cambridge.1

Foote (Merchant Marine), New York City; one of founders of Cincinnati Type Foundry in 1820; editor of Literary Gazette, Cincinnati; president of Cincinnati Water Works in 1825 until 1840, when they were sold to the city; a director in Louisville Canal ; a trustee of the Woodward High School Fund ; a trustee of Cincinnati College; a trustee of Common Schools; a trustee of Ohio Medical College; first president Society for Promotion of Useful Knowledge ; president Academy of Natural Science; vice-president Historical Society; secretary Cincinnati Law School; president Cincinnati Astronomical Society (1845) (its existence mainly due to his exertions) ; officer Ohio Mechanics Institute (framed its constitution) ; one of founders of Spring Grove Cemetery (one of its directors until death) ; one of the organizers of Horticultural Society (member until death) ; director House of Refuge (mainly instrumental in its establishment).1
