  • Nathaniel died on August 26, 1736 in Topsfield, Massachusetts, at age 25, during the prevalence of a terrible "pestilential distemper" from which "over 200 children under ten years of age died, in Haverhill alone, between Jan. 1, 1736 and Dec. 31, 1737."2
