Richard Hale Jr. was born on December 17, 1720 in Newbury, Massachusetts.³
He was the son of Richard Hale and Mary Silver.²
Richard Hale Jr. was a blacksmith and mariner.
Richard Hale, Jr. blacksmith, and Samuel Hale, cordwainer, both of Newbury, took from Nicholas Jackman of Newbury, carpenter, deed of dwelling-house with about 43 rods of land in Newbury, 8 Oct 1747 (93: 109). (This was the "Hale house " which, in 1889, was still in possession of the family.)³
Richard married Sarah Gage on November 30, 1749 in Newbury, Massachusetts.³
Richard Hale, Jr., blacksmith, and Samuel Hale, fisherman, both of Newbury, divided 20 rods of land they owned in common with a house upon it, Richard taking the south-west end of the house by deed 26 Sept 1750 (95: 221).

Richard Hale, Jr., of Newbury, blacksmith, and wife Sarah, conveyed to Joseph Knight 15 rods of land in Newbury, bounded by Noyes Hidden and Nicholas Jackson (Jackman?) 27 Sept 1750 (97: 66).⁴
Richard Hale, Jr., blacksmith, and wife Sarah, and Benjamin Gage, shipwright, of Newbury, and Stephen Hale and wife Elizabeth, conveyed to Daniel Dole of Newbury about 12 rods of land with buildings, bounded south-easterly on Chandlerâ's lane or King street, 48 feet, 26 Nov 1770 (131: 128).

Richard Hale of Newbury, mariner, conveyed to Patrick Tracy of Newburyport, merchant, one-half a house where grantor resided in Newbury on Merrimack street, the other part owned by Samuel Hale, next to heirs of Joseph Knight and Joseph Hidden, both deceased, 24 Sept 1771. (MEM.- The Jr. seems to have been omitted here for the first time) (129: 150).⁵

He was the son of Henry Hale and Mary Bartlett.¹
Richard married Mary Chase on October 25, 1773 in Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, by Rev. Nathaniel Merrill.³
In the centennial address of Rev. Stephon T. Allen, at Merrimack, 3 Apr 1846 (p. 63), Richard Hale is named among the settlers of the town from 1755 to 1770, "whose descendants are among us." And on the same occasion James Hale was one of sixty who planted "centennial trees."⁴
Richard died in Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.³
