- Thomas married Elizabeth Cason, daughter of Robert Cason and Prudence Hammond, on November 12, 1623 in Lavenham, Suffolk, England.2
- As of 1636, Thomas Hammond lived at Hingham, Massachusetts. He had land granted him on Lower Plain, which adjoined the lots of William Sprague and Robert Jones. 7 May 1652, he sold his meadow, and upland in Hingham to Daniel Gushing. The wife's approval of this conveyance is recorded in Suffolk Deeds as follows: " This sale of theis two pcells is done by the free Consent of me Elizabeth Hamond wife vnto Thomas Hamond."3
- He was admitted freeman on March 9, 1636/37 In some ancient papers, he is called "Old Thomas."4
- and was a grand juror on September 19, 1637.5
- In 1650, Thomas Hammond puchased land in Newton, Massachusetts, near the boundary line of Brookline, and near a beautiful body of water, which has since borne his name -- "Hammond Pond."5
- In 1652, and '56. he sold lands in Hingham, and in 1650, purchased land in Carab. Village (Newton), near the boundary of Brookline, where he settled.4
- In 1656 he disposed of his home-place in Hingham to William Sprague, and removed to Newton.3
- On November 14, 1656, he puchased for £40, 300 acres of land in Cambridge, Massachusetts, owned by Esther, daughter of Nathaniel Sparhawk, of Cambridge. The land was on the south side of the Charles River, bounded on north, south and west by a farm granted by the town to Robert Bradish.5
- Thomas died on September 30, 1675 at age 88. Inventory, £1139. 16. 2. To dr. Elizabeth he gave 100 acres in Muddy River (Brookline).4
