- He and his brother Isaac, aided in building Carlton's bridge in Southbury, over Housatonic river, during the war of the Revolution, and Gen. Ephraim Hinman acted as issuing commissary to supply the workmen with provisions, (as testified by said Timothy after the war.) After the close of the war he removed to Derby, Vermont, with his brother Isaac. He became a man of importance in his new location, where he was a Magistrate, and Judge of the County Court several years, and Representative, &c.1
- Hon. Timothy Hinman moved to Vermont with Capt. Adam Hinman and Sarah Hinman after the war of the Revolution.1
- Timothy married Phebe Stoddard on September 10, 1783.1

- Capt. Titus Hinman was an original settler of Woodbury, (then Pomparaug) 1672. Capt. Titus Hinman, with Andrew Hinman, and Benjamin Hicock, in behalf of the settlers of Southbury, then a portion of Woodbury, organized Southbury into a separate society, by dividing the two ecclesiastical societies by the line which "divided their Train Bands," which was incorporated in May, 1731, and named Southbury. Titus was made Captain of the "Train Band" soon after he settled at Woodbury, a rank of military honor few could obtain at that time. He was a member of the General Assembly 7 sessions between 1712 and 1720. Capt. Titus was a gentleman of good estate, and held a high rank as a public man in Woodbury.3

- Titus married Mary Hawkins on January 14, 1703/4 as his second wife.3
