• Frederick Royse was born in 1750 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The first known relative of mine to be born in Pennsylvania.²
• He was the son of John Royse and Hannah (?)¹
• Frederick Royse was in the Bedford County, Pennsylvania Rangers during the Revolutionary War, enrolled as Frederick "Rice." He may also have served in the Hampshire County, Va. militia.¹
• He married Sarah DeWitt in 1778 in that part of Virginia which is now in West Virginia.²
• Frederick died on February 13, 1825 in Fredericksburg, Washington County, Indiana.^1,2

  Died. At Ida, September 6th, of dropsy. Frederick Royse, Aged 65 years and five months.
  
  Mr. Royse was born in Washington County, Indiana, moved from there to Illinois, from Illinois to Iowa, and from Iowa to this township, where he has resided for something over 9 years, making him one of the oldest settlers in Rose Creek township, respected and beloved by all who knew him.
  
  The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. N. See. A large and sympathizing procession followed him to his last resting place.

• Gabriel died on February 7, 1857 in Fredericksburg, Washington County, Indiana, at age 67.¹
• He was buried in Horner's Chapel, Fredericksburg, Washington County, Indiana.¹
