- Joseph R. Wight was born on March 16, 1803 in Dover, Massachusetts, son of Oliver and Mary Wight.1,2
- Joseph married on July 4, 1833 to Lucinda Snow, as his first wife. They had two children.2
- Joseph married Lorinda Davis, daughter of John Thurston and Mercy Hale, on May 15, 1856 in Dover, Massachusetts, as his second wife, and her second husband. He was a laborer. They were married by Ezra Haskell Jr., pastor of the First Parish Church in Dover.1
- The census of 1860 shows: Joseph R. Wight, 57, superintendent of the pauper house, with $2000 real estate; and Lorinda Wight, 42; listed with George N. Davis
living at Pauper House, Natick, Massachusetts.
There were seven others living there.3 - The census of 1865 shows: Joseph R. Wight, 62, farmer; and Lorinda Wight, 49, houseewife; listed with George Henry Davis
living at Natick, Massachusetts.
There were six others living there.4 - The census of 1870 shows: Joseph R. Wight, 57, a gardner; and Lorinda Wight, 54, keeping house; listed with George F. Davis, William F. Hale and Stephen Hayes
living at Cambridgeport, Massachusetts.
Also living there was Walter Wing, 9, attending school.5 - Joseph died before 1884.6
