William Eugene Chickering1

  • William Eugene Chickering was born in 1924 in Concord, New Hampshire, son of Porter and Carolyn (Saben) Chickering.

    He was a tail gunner on a B-24 during World War II and spent 10 months as a prisoner of war in Germany.
    He attended Bentley School of Accounting in Boston and was a graduate of Hesser College in Manchester.
    He was an accountant and office manager for Merrimack Farmers Exchange for 26 years and then served as assistant treasurer at A & B Lumber for 16 years before retiring in 1995.
    He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Concord.
    He enjoyed music and gardening.1
  • William married Priscilla Mae Houghton, daughter of Ralph Alley Houghton and Elsie Priscilla Colby, on December 31, 1947 in Concord, New Hampshire. He was a student, living at 36 Franklin St,Concord. She was la "farmerette," iving at RFD 3, Bow. They were married by Rev. Leslie Earle Mark.1
  • William died on September 28, 2000 in Concord Hospital, Concord, New Hampshire, Funeral services were held at Trinity Baptist Church, Concord. The Rev. Dr. Chuck Phelps, pastor, officiating.2
  • He was buried in Evans Cemetery.2
