He was born on April 22, 1830 in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.
He was the son of Ayers Mason and Eunice Hale.¹
Oliver Hale Mason was graduated from Gould Academy.
In 1850, Oliver Hale Mason was Farmer. at Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.³
Oliver married Alma Frances Connor on May 29, 1856.
In 1861 Oliver Hale Mason was a member of the militia.
Between 1861 and 1862, Oliver Hale Mason was selectman.
He was a member of Bethel Lodge, No. 97, and on its first board of officers elected under the charter, also an officer 1862, 1863, 1864, 1865, and in 1890 his name was on the list of members in good standing.
In 1864, Oliver Hale Mason was town clerk at Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.
Bethel Town Records show Oliver Hale Mason married Olive Milissa Lee on December 1, 1865 in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.⁴
Capt. Hugh Mason Genealogy states that Oliver Hale Mason married Olive Milissa Lee on December 7, 1865 in Vernon, Windham County, Vermont, and that they were married by Rev. H. B. Butler.
Oliver Hale Mason was a capable and successful businessman, and interested in timber and lumbering. He was one of the founders of The Bethel Savings Bank in which he held the offices of treasurer and president successively.²
He was said to have been the first to use mineral coal in Bethel 1873.
He he took a prominent part in the centennial celebration of Bethel August, 1874.
The census of 1880 shows: Oliver H. Mason, a merchant; and Olive M. Mason listed with Alice G. Mason and Leslie L. Mason
living at Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.⁵
Oliver Hale Mason suffered greatly from articular rheumatism, rendering him nearly helpless for years.²
He was much involved in the sucess of the Universalist Church, and left it a
legacy of $1000.²
Oliver died on February 20, 1891 in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine, at age 60.
