- He was the son of Corporal Benjamin Hale and Mary Taylor.2
- Oliver married Eunice Fletcher between 1775 and 1790 in Gray, Cumberland County, Maine, where he went on an ox-sled to be married, and brought his wife home the same way.3
- Oliver Hale served in the campaign against Burgoyne in the Rev. War, then not 17 years old.3
- Probably in 1795, Oliver Hale moved to what was afterward Waterford, Oxford County, Maine, and was among the first settlers. He walked all the way, and carried an ox chain on his shoulders, which remained in possession of his family.3
- In 1796, Oliver Hale was a petitioner for the incorporation of Waterford as a town, and had the second highest tax amount on the town's first tax-roll. Afterwards, his tax was for some years the town's highest, and by repute, he was Waterford's wealthiest citizen. Originally a farmer, he afterward became a merchant.3
- On May 20, 1803, Oliver Hale and David Hale purchased lot 99 of school lands in Turner, Androscoggin County, Maine.4
- Oliver married Elizabeth Newton on November 27, 1832 in Otisfield, Oxford County, Maine, Married by James [Sanbourne ?illeg.], justice of the peace.5
- The census of 1850 shows: Oliver Hale, 89, a farmer with $1100 real estate; and Elizabeth Hale, 65;
living at Waterford, Oxford County, Maine.6 - Oliver died on December 2, 1850 in Waterford, Oxford County, Maine, at age 89 of a liver complaint.7
