Richard Tenney was born on October 20, 1736, son of William and Mehitable (Pearson) Tenney of Rowley.²
Richard married Abigail Perley, daughter of David Perley and Elizabeth Jewett, on March 30, 1762.¹
He served on a committee "to hire one lieutenant and nine privates, on as reasonable terms as they can & to give advance pay if best."³
Richard died on January 23, 1802 at age 65.³

Richard died on December 9, 1884 in Georgetown, Massachusetts, at age 74. The Boston Journal of Dec. 11, 1884, said: "Richard Tenney, aged seventy-four years, died at his home in Georgetown, Mass., Tuesday night, after a long and painful illness. Mr. Tenney has always lived in Georgetown, was very prominent in religious matters and for many years was librarian of Peabody Public Library. Mr. Tenney leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. A. S. Stiger of Brooklyn, N. Y. Two brothers, Charles S. and George J. Tenney, and one sister, Mrs. Lucy H. Dole, also survive him."²

Samuel married Elisabeth Smith on January 17, 1771 in Newbury, Massachusetts, by Rev. William Johnson.¹
Samuel died on May 29, 1821 in West Newbury, Massachusetts, at age 72.³
Erected 1771 by Tenney, a Deacon at the West Newbury Congregational Church for 28 years and Revolutionary War veteran. According to an old family document, the paneling and stairway in the front entry hall were so elaborate that it took workers 100 days to complete it. Their payment? $100 in silver.
