John Henry Fairbank

• John Henry Fairbank was Republican.²
• He was born on January 21, 1817 in Harvard, Massachusetts.³

• When he was nineteen years old, he drove an eight horse team between Winchendon and Boston for the late E. Murdock, Jr., until the railroad was built in 1844.³
• In 1843, John Henry Fairbank was Organized the First National Bank of Winchendon, and Was elected its first president, which position he held continuously ever since. 'He has long been prominent in town affairs, holding positions of responsibility, a selectman for twenty-five years, most of the time chairman of the board, an assessor for fifteen years, most of the time also chairman, and cemetery commissioner for thirty-four years in succession, save one year; and as road commissioner, or highway surveyor, he has had partial or full charge of highways in Winchendon for more than thirty years.³
• He went into the livery business 1844 , in partnership with Henry Whitcomb, under the name Whitcomb & Fairbank Winchendon, Massachusetts.³
• John married Mary E. Lees on June 4, 1847.²
  
• In 1852, John Henry Fairbank bought the American House in Winchendon, Massachusetts.³
• In 1864, John Henry Fairbank organized First National Bank of Winchendon, and was its first president.³
• In 1865, marked the end of his span as landlord of the American House.³
• And about 1868 was the end of John's involvement with livery firm of Whitcomb & Fairbank.³
• John died on May 8, 1907 in Winchendon, Massachusetts, at age 90 of cerebral thrombosis.⁴
