- Asahel Hinman was born on March 13, 1742 in Goshen, Connecticut, son of James Hinman of New Jersey. He was captain (wagonmaster) in Morris Regt., New Jersey Militia, American Revolution.2,1
- Asahel married Marie Harris "Mary" Hinman, daughter of Jonah or Jonas Hinman and Elizabeth Ward.1
- Asahel died on September 5, 1825 at age 83.2
- He was buried in Hinman Cemetery, Boonville, Warrick County, Indiana. Moved in 1970 to Maple Grove Cemetery.2

- He was the son of Sergeant Edward Hinman and Hannah Stiles.1
- Benjamin Hinman was, in the rear of where Jonathan Stiles later lived. He was a farmer at White Oak, in Southbury, Connecticut.2
- Benjamin married Elizabeth Lum on July 12, 1684 in Woodbury, Connecticut. It was the first marriage recorded upon Woodbury records, certified by Justice Rickbell, who married them.3
- He represented Woodbury in the General Court of the Colony, twice in 1711.4
- In 1712, Benjamin Hinman was taxed in Woodbury for the purchase of the North Purchase, (Bethlehem.)4
- Benjamin died in 1713 in Woodbury, Connecticut.2
