George Tufts¹

George Tufts was born about March, 1822 in Somerville, Massachusetts, son of Isaac and Lucy (Green) Tufts.¹
George married Lydia A. Holt, daughter of Daniel Holt and Mary or Polly Hale, on June 13, 1844 in Massachusetts.²
The census of 1850 shows: George Tufts, 27, a farmer; and Lydia A. Tufts, 25;
living at Somerville, Massachusetts.
Living with them was Harriet Burrell, 35.³
The census of 1860 shows: George Tufts, 38, a farmer; and Lydia A. Tufts, 34;
living at Somerville, Massachusetts.
They were living in the home of Martha Tufts, 60, owner of $100,000 real estate; and Mary, Louisa, and Timothy Tufts; also John J. and Ann M. Sawyer.⁴
The census of 1870 shows: George Tufts, 47, carpenter; and Lydia Tufts, 45, keeping house;
living at Ward 5, Cambridge, Massachusetts.⁵
The census of 1880 shows: George Tufts, 57; and Lydia A. Tufts, wife, 55, keeping house;
living at 11 Newbury Street, Somerville, Massachusetts.⁶
George died on July 20, 1899 in 15 Windom Street, Somerville, Massachusetts, of apoplexy.¹
He was buried in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts.⁷
