- Charles W. Colby was born on March 14, 1831 in Weare, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.1
- He was the son of Captain Jonathan G. Colby and Asenath Morrill.1
- Charles married Emily H. Percival as his first wife.2
- Charles married Sarah J. Fling on December 26, 1863 in New Hampshire.3
- Corporal Colby was a shoe maker. He was enlisted in the Civil War on 11 August 1864, and mustered out of NH 8 Nov 1864. He was a private in the NH 1st Calvery, Company G. He was promoted to Corp 01 July 1865 and mustered out of 15 July 1865 at Cloud's Mills, VA.
He was a pensioned Civil War Soldier.2 - Charles married Frances A. Follansbee on September 4, 1892 in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Frances was previously married to a Mr. Hanson.4
- Charles died in 1903.2
