Edward Hale1

  • Edward Hale was born on November 8, 1805.1
  • He was the son of Thomas Hale and Alice Little.1
  • After finishing his studies at Gardiner Lyceum, he entered a large wholesale store in Portsmouth, and a few years later opened a store himself in Saco, which he abandoned after the decease of his grandfather, Col. Josiah Little, to look after the large landed estate left to his father's family. In 1836 he settled on a large farm in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont.1
  • Edward married Elizabeth L. Wigglesworth on January 30, 1837 as her second husband.1
  • Edward died on October 3, 1886 in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont, at age 80, without issue.1

  • Edwin Moses Hale M. D. was born on February 2, 1829 in Newport, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.1
  • He was the son of Syene Hale and Betsey Dow.1
  • He attended medical lectures at Cleveland, Ohio, in 1850 and 1851, and took his degree in medicine at Cleveland, Ohio, 1858, after he had practiced eight years. Has been a voluminous writer on Materia Medica, and his works are translated into several European languages.

    He was professor of Materia Medica in Hahnemann College, Chicago, for eighteen years; in Chicago Homoeopathic College for five years, and author of the following text books:
         Materia Medica and Therapeutics of New Remedies, two volumes, five editions.
         Diseases of Women, one volume, three editions.
         Diseases of the Heart, one volume, three editions.
         Compendium of Health, one volume.2
