  • Clara Niel Colby was born on October 10, 1880 in Everett Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts.4
  • She was the daughter of Irving Andrew J. Colby and Clara Lawrence Hale.1,2,3
  • Claire Neal Colby was graduated in 1897 from Edward Everett School. She was a participant in the Children's Scene, Ye Miniature Navy, under the auspices of the WCTU, and "Our Flag" under the auspices of the Boston Tea Party Chapter of the D.A.R. Her sister, Miss Ina Colby, was soloist in the latter.5
  • On May 5, 1900, The Boston Evening Transcript listed her as one of the participants in the "Jockey Dance" at the May Festival Dance held in Mechanics Building.6
  • The census of 1900 shows: Clara H. Colby, 50; and Claire N. Colby, 19, a vocalist, not employed for 3 months;
    living at 19 Alexander St, Boston, Massachusetts.
